Free-flowing Bandon caused a big upset when they comprehensively beat Glenstal Abbey in the Munster Schools Senior Cup quarter-final replay at Thomond Park.

The Cork side were caught late in the drawn game and champions Glenstal were favourites to progress here. But they were hit from the off with Bandon captain Jack Crowley converting his own try after five minutes.

Crowley was the outstanding player on view and he scored a second try late on to clinch the win after Glenstal threatened a late comeback.

Nine minutes after falling behind, Glenstal had a try by Daniel O'Mahoney which Caolon Dooley converted.

With their forwards dominating, Bandon went back in front on 27 minutes and never lost the initiative after second-row Moses Lynn got in.

By half-time Bandon led 21-7 thanks to back-row Jason Connolly's try. Glenstal battled on and Taylor Gleeson got a try before Crowley's second.
