A BRACE of tries from powerful No 8 Luke Cahill helped a Rockwell College secure a convincing victory over St Munchin's College at a windy Clanwilliam Park.
A decade has passed since Rockwell's last provincial cup success, but on the evidence of this clinical display, the Tipperary students can be serious contenders.
Backed by a stiff breeze in the opening half, Rockwell enjoyed a slim 14-10 interval lead. The teams shared four tries in the opening period, with Paul Curtis and Dan Goggin touching down for St Munchin's College, while Cahill and Cian O'Donnell responded for Rockwell.
A well-executed try two minutes after the restart from full-back Donagh McGillycuddy, followed by Cahill's 55th-minute try, put Rockwell in total control and it was left to lock Aidan O'Sullivan to bag his side's fifth touchdown when he trotted over late on.
