Rockwell lifted the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup title at Irish Independent Park yesterday, with first-half hat-trick of tries proving decisive.
Brian Gleeson, Cian Meaney and Darius Achimugu touched down before the break to send the Tipperary school on their way to a 20th title and their first success in this competition in 22 years.
They edged in front on eight minutes when Gleeson powered over, with Rory Collins off target with the conversion.
Munchin's, who were looking to retain the cup, took the lead just three minutes later as Stephen Hayes burst through for a try with Cillian O'Connor converting.
Rockwell then showed their character as they retook the lead thanks to an excellent try from Meaney, converted this time by Collins.
And with the first half drawing to a close, the Cashel team struck a vital blow with a moment of supreme quality from Achimugu. The winger surged past numerous challenges to dot down close to the corner for a 17-7 half-time lead.
Rockwell continued to dominate after that and a period of pressure soon yielded a Collins penalty.
Munchin's gave themselves hope when Gus Harrington scored a try with 12 minutes remaining but Collins' late penalty wrapped it up.
