Ryan return boosts Reds
IRELAND international Donnacha Ryan returns to action for Munster 'A' in the British and Irish Cup after serving the three-week suspension he picked up during the Autumn Internationals.
Both Ulster and Munster had to delay their team selections for this competition as they awaited the selection of the senior sides, but Ryan's availability will come as a massive boost to Munster.
He partners team captain Billy Holland in the second-row as the province travel to Scotland to take on Melrose. Peter Borlase and Barry Murphy were cleared to play after being left out of the Heineken Cup squad, with Munster needing a win to maintain their interest in the competition. Anthony Foley's side, who were beaten in the final of this competition last season, lost their first-round clash to Llanelli in Waterford, but will be fancied to turn over a Melrose side who haven't had a game since November 20 due to the weather.
Ulster have a promising new crop of talent on the way and they have included Craig Gilroy and Jamie Smith in their Ravens side to travel to face Bedford. The Ravens got their 2010/11 campaign off to a winning start in October with a 32-12 win over Swansea at St Helens and also include the experienced Robbie Diack at No 8.
