Riordan key to Belvo success

OF the two clubs tied together at the bottom of Division 1A of the AIL, Old Belvedere got the boost they were looking for by clipping Blackrock's wings in the cup at Donnybrook last night.

Full-back Dan Riordan kicked two penalties either side of No 8 Jack Conan's powerful try on the left for an 11-0 lead on 23 minutes.

Blackrock's Andrew Letham kept it interesting from 30 metres only for Riordan to outstrip the 'Rock defence for a 16-3 gap at the break.

The game descended into a dogfight from there as Belvo held on to collect the honours.
