Quinlan's boot helps Cork Con taste glory
Out-half Tomás Quinlan kept a cool head when it mattered as his penalties enabled Cork Con beat Terenure 12-7 in the All-Ireland U-20 Fraser McMullen Cup final.
It was a result that looked unlikely early on as Terenure moved the ball swiftly through the hands and in the second minute Tom O'Brien burned his opponents for pace before making it home.
Stephen O'Neill's conversion had the Dublin side 7-0 in front but that was their last score of the game.
Con gradually asserted superiority up front and that proved the platform for Quinlan to find some good touch positions as well as kicking the penalties that inevitably came their way.
By half-time they had hauled themselves to within a point, 7-6, with Terenure's attempts on the line thwarted by some excellent defence.
Further penalties successfully kicked by Quinlan in the 51st and 70th minute proved the key scores.
