Ross Byrne to start for Leinster as Sexton misses out
Ross Byrne will be Leo Cullen's man to replace 'The Man' against Munster in the PRO14 League semi-final at the sold-out RDS on Saturday.
Jonathan Sexton will not start due to a tweak to his groin suffered during the Champions Cup final.
This leaves Cullen and Stuart Lancaster with the same choice they have had all season long – Joey Carbery or Byrne.
The coaches are simply staying true to their opinions that they see Byrne as and out-half and Carbery as a full-back, who can play out-half.
It is this versatility that won Carbery the vote for the bench in the Champions Cup knockout phase.
However, Byrne has made all 18 of his starts for Leinster this season and all eleven last season.
At the beginning of last season, Carbery wore the number ten shirt in eight straight starts.
It was in February of 2017 that the transition began away to The Dragons in the PRO12 League.

From there, he started at full-back six times against twice at out-half.
The trend has continued into this season where there have been eight at fifteen compared to one at ten, including a full-back shift in his last game at Connacht.
Coach Cullen has been consistent in his selection and the choice of Byrne is the logical one.
