Paul O’Connell to escape citing for kicking Leinster’s Dave Kearney

IT IS believed Munster lock Paul O’Connell will not be cited for kicking Dave Kearney in the head during Saturday’s match against Leinster.

Sources have indicated that officials believe the incident was down to carelessness and was not intentional after extensive analysis of video footage.

Since it was not considered a red card offence, it is believed that O’Connell will not face any further action.

A citing could have had a disastrous impact on the Munster skipper as he battles for a place in the Lions squad for this summer’s tour to Australia.

Although a final decision will not be made until this evening, it is understood that no citing will now take place.
