Celtic Rugby boss cool over Italian talks

Celtic Rugby director David Jordan has branded reports that Italian clubs will join the Magners League next season as premature.

Jordan confirmed talks, which had broken down a fortnight ago, had resumed over the future participation of Benetton Treviso and Viadana in an expanded competition. It is understood both clubs have stumped up enough cash to allow negotiations to be resurrected.

"I'm not in a position now to talk in detail - that's commercial and sensitive. Discussions have now begun again," said Jordan. "The Celtic Rugby board is looking at possible Italian entry - I can't say for which season. However, no decision has been made."
