Garryowen and Dundalk bid for play-off upsets
Garryowen will be hoping to put their final-day disappointment behind them when they take on St Mary's College in the Division 1A promotion/relegation decider at Templeville Road today (2.30).
The Limerick club were pipped to automatic promotion by Galwegians and face a Mary's side who, despite their inconsistent form, have beaten semi-finalists Young Munster and Clontarf at home.
Garryowen are bidding to return to the top flight at the first attempt and Conan Doyle's side have the quality to cause problems for Mary's, whose captain Kevin Sheahan has called today's game the "most important game in the last number of years".
Elsewhere, Dundalk RFC go in search a place in next season's Ulster Bank League when they face De La Salle Palmerston in today's Division 2B play-off at Kirwan Park (2.30).
DLSP lost 10 of their 15 league games and their opponents will fancy their chances of causing an upset and sealing their senior status after coming through the round-robin stages on top of the table and undefeated.
