Jonathan Sexton's season and career finale with Racing Metro doesn’t appear to be going to script after he was left out of the team to face La Rochelle today.

The Irish number 10 will return to Leinster at the end of the season after a two-year stay in Paris, but hopes out going out in style are appearing slim given their current standing of sixth position in the Top 14.

Sexton, who recently returned to action following a hamstring injury, was involved in last week's 28-19 loss to Stade Français and would have expected to start in the tricky away fixture to the side just three position s below Racing in the table.

Sexton has had an injury-interrupted season with the French club as they push for the play-offs with two games to play.
