O'Brien brace hits High note

Luke O'Brien stunned Templeogue with a brace of tries in the last two minutes as The High School snatched glory at Terenure College yesterday.

There was little evidence of the drama to come in a first half that ended 3-3, with The High School out-half Jack Killeen slotting a penalty on the cusp of the interval.

After the break, Templeogue withstood five minutes of The High School pressure, then gradually imposed themselves.

Their commitment and strong scrummaging paid off as No 8 David Rohan pounced on a loose ball to score.

The advantage was extended to 11-3 when out-half Ross Kennedy added his second penalty on 63 minutes.

The High School pushed forward but superb defence kept them at bay.

However, the Rathgar boys refused to give up, and O'Brien crashed over with two minutes on the clock to give them a glimmer of hope.

And O'Brien showed great opportunism for his match-winning try as he dived over following a stunning break by replacement Shane Richardson.
