Munster Coach Development hosted an U-14 workshop at Corca Dhuibhne RFC last week as part of a series of workshops designed to encourage rugby development in the area.

The West Kerry club welcomed 19 players and their coaches to take part in a series of drills focused on tackle and defence. Players were also involved in skills-based activities and match-conditioned games to improve their understanding of the sport.

Corca Dhuibhne coach Paddy Fenton organised and co-ordinated the event with the support of Munster Community Rugby Officer, Ray Gadsden.

U-13 series kicks off in Fethard

The first ever Munster U-13 Girls' competition took place at Fethard RFC earlier this month with over 120 girls from 16 clubs taking part.

The competition was run in a blitz format with each team playing three matches on the day.

Bantry Bay's Geraldine Hicks organised and ran the event with the support of Women's Development Officer, Amanda Greensmith, and Community Rugby Officer, Eugene McCarthy, while Willie Schubert and Damien Hicks officiated the matches.

Polly Murphy of Fethard RFC was also on hand to host the matches, provide refreshments and ensure the smooth running of the event.

The competition is scheduled to run across all corners of the province as Shannon RFC host a blitz on Saturday, February 24, Tralee RFC on Sunday, March 18, before a finals day is held at Ballincollig RFC on Sunday, April 15.

Mallow Tag event

Mallow RFC's annual Tag Rugby Festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 11 this year.

The club are set to host their fifth consecutive festival with the Mallow Barbarians (Mallow's adapted tag rugby team in association with the Cope Foundation).

This year's event, sponsored by Tria Oil, welcomes mixed teams of 10 with a minimum of three female players (€200 per team). Book in advance to get a 10pc discount. For details, contact:
