Every time the Lions tour comes around, the Six Nations takes on a whole new level of significance, and with the tour returning to New Zealand it looks set to be a massive few months ahead for some of the Irish and Munster players.

Inevitably, the Lions selection will be to the forefront of the media. But within the various camps the players will try to remain solely focused on the task at hand and winning their weekly games.

It's easier said than done, but professional rugby players pride themselves on putting on the blinkers and priming themselves for a crack at their opposition the following weekend.

But saying all that, the Six Nations is where most of the selection criteria are looked at, and that will hopefully provide a little bit of an edge for the Irish players for this tournament.

Ireland have so many live contenders to go to New Zealand this time around, and if the team have a strong tournament and maybe win it, we could be set to see one of the biggest touring representations from this island.

There will be some intriguing individual matches throughout the various games, but overall the players will be hoping to keep a fresh mindset and focus on this tournament itself.
