Darren Sweetnam crossed for two tries as an understrength Munster side secured a home semi-final with a bonus point win in Treviso.

Rassie Erasmus' men needed just a couple of points to ensure they will be in Thomond Park for the Guinness PRO12 semi-final but they did it in style with a side which saw ten changes from that which lost to Saracens in the Champions Cup.

But the win was not without a price with Dave O'Callaghan and Ronan O'Mahony picking up early injuries, while Billy Holland cried off before the game through illness.

Munster never looked back once they hit the front after 25 minutes when Francis Saili put Sweetnam over for a fine try.

Tyler Bleyendaal looped with Darren O'Shea to send Simon Zebo through for their second try seven minutes later.

It was 15-0 by the break with Bleyendaal converting and then landing a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Italian international David Odiete punished some weak tackling with a try for a Treviso side who will now head to Parma next weekend with a Champions Cup spot for the winners of their clash with Zebre.

Ian McKinley converted the try but notions of them getting back in the contest were quickly dispelled.

Saili was again the creator for Alex Wootton to score his first Munster try - the winger was one of several on duty in Italy last night who helped them win the B&I Cup last weekend.

Jack O'Donoghue wrapped up the bonus point for Munster after 67 minutes with an intercept and the rout was completed ten minutes from time when Sweetnam hacked down the right and chased to touch down. Treviso never gave up and were rewarded with a late try from Jean Francois Montauriol.
