Supporters Club throw weight behind Foley as ticket sales soar
Munster supporters have come out early to back Anthony Foley and his new coaching team, with thousands of season tickets being snapped up for the 2014/15 campaign.
Munster's season may have fizzled out, with the Heineken Cup semi-final defeat to Toulon being followed by last week's exit in the last four of the Pro12 away to Glasgow, but fans are already looking forward to next season.
The closing date for membership of the Munster Rugby Supporters Club is this evening and by the middle of this week around 8,000 had renewed their membership or joined up for the first time.
Around 7,000 season tickets have been snapped up for the new Pro12 campaign, with 5,000 availing of the season pass for the new Rugby Champions Cup, which will replace the Heineken Cup.
The manager of the supporters' club, Jennifer Kiernan, said the '16th man' is an integral part of Munster.
"The high numbers signing up once again suggest it will be a very exciting season ahead and on behalf of Munster Rugby I would like to thank the fans for their continued support and look forward to seeing you all in the coming season," she said.
Members of the supporters' club have access to discounted season tickets and priority access in public ticket sales.
Other benefits include admission to the members bar at Thomond Park on match-days, 10pc off in all Lifestyle Sports outlets and entry into the Supporters Club Giant Draw, which to date has raised over €900,000 for the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy.
