Senan's outclass rivals in Development decider
St Senan's RFC ladies made history recently by winning the final of the Munster Development League against a fancied Dungarvan side on a 46-12 scoreline.
St Senan's made a solid start and were rewarded by their early pressure when Rachael O'Brien slotted over a penalty to give the Clare side the first points of the game.
Dungarvan were very strong up front and their defence was solid. Eventually, though, Senan's broke the Dungarvan line and Claire O'Brien went in under the posts to claim the first try of the game. Rachael O'Brien made no mistake with the conversion to give Senan's a 10-0 lead.
Senan's didn't wait long to capitalise on their pressure and only a few minutes later Rachel McGann went over the line for the second try of the day. O'Brien added the extras to give the Clare side a commanding 17-0 lead.
Soon after Dungarvan capitalised on their dominance in the scrum and crossed for their first try.
In the second half, Senan's showed their dominance and further tries by Claire Hestor, Linda McInerney, Una McNamara and Mairead McKenna with conversions from Rachael O'Brien and Claire O'Brien put some daylight between the sides.
Dungarvan got some consolation when they crossed over for their second converted try but there was more to come from Senan's.
Claire Hestor finished off their scoring tally with another excellent try under the posts with Rachael O'Brien narrowly missing the conversion.
