Reigning champions Crescent Comprehensive got their title defence off to the perfect start with a six-try demolition of Christian Brothers College at Rosbrien.

Two tries from Crescent's Robbie Scott set them on the way to a comfortable victory against CBC.

Scott got the scoring under way touching down in the corner. Cormac Blake extended their lead when he bulldozed over from close range. Fionn McGibney added the easy extras.

The Limerick school had the game wrapped up when Scott crossed to give his side a 17-0 lead at the break.

McGibney added an early second-half penalty before Will Leonard crossed the whitewash. Crescent were soon in for their fifth try, with Jason O'Sullivan scoring in the corner. McGibney was on target again with a fine conversion.

Johnny Keane was rewarded for an excellent display with a try of his own and the sixth of the game. Dylan Sheehan converted.

The holders sealed a home quarter-final and again look the team to avoid in this year's competition.
