Racing 92 have confirmed the capture of Munster full-back Simon Zebo just five days before the sides meet in a pivotal Champions Cup game in Paris.

It emerged in October that Zebo would not be signing a new contract with the IRFU and would instead be plying his trade in the Top 14 next season.

Racing were favourites for the Ireland international's signature from the off but he looks certain to join Donnacha Ryan in the French capital after an interview with Zebo appeared on Racing 92's official website today.

Asked if it was odd to be playing against his next club in a big game, Zebo said: "Of course it's going to be a very, very big match. A difficult match for both teams but especially for Munster."

Zebo was also asked if Munster fans accepted his decision to leave the province for Racing.

He added: "It was difficult at first but I think they understand and accept my decision. The decision was very difficult to make, I have a great connection with them, with everyone at the club but it was the right moment."

Zebo confirmed that he would return to France in late January to look for a house and a school for his son.

Munster go into the game on top of Pool 4 four points clear of Racing.

The fact that the interview has been released so close to a crunch game between the teams is expected to be questioned.
