Perpignan show mettle

John Fallon

Perpignan had three men yellow-carded but still managed to come out of Toulon with a bonus point when they went down 15-9 last weekend.

The Catalans, who are seventh in the Top 14, entertain Clermont Auvergne tonight before their back-to-back matches against Munster.

Munster's other two pool opponents are also in action tonight. Edinburgh, who scored three tries in their 41-17 loss to Ulster in Ravenhill, take on Connacht in Murrayfield.

Alan Solomons, the former Ulster coach who had little joy on his return to Belfast, will be expected to pick up a morale-boosting victory ahead of their clashes with Gloucester against a Connacht side who have lost seven on the spin.

The outcome of those games between Gloucester and Edinburgh -- the first match is in Murrayfield -- will be crucial to Munster's hopes.

Gloucester take on Leicester tonight badly in need of a win after imploding in recent weeks -- their 27-19 loss to Harlequins was their fourth defeat in a row.

They lie in 10th place in the English Premiership with just two wins from eight games. They are a point above London Irish.
