New nutrition partner brings a lot of benefits
Former Munster and All Black full-back Doug Howlett, the province's head of commercial and marketing, says that the appointment of an official nutrition partner will have benefits for elite and amateur players.
Optimum Nutrition have come on board with Munster Rugby in a partnership that aims to share good nutrition messages with elite and amateur players and the wider rugby community.
"Nutrition plays a huge role in our lives and is not limited to the life of a professional athlete," said Howlett.
"We are aligned to Optimum Nutrition's plans for performance education and are delighted to partner with such an innovative brand."
Optimum Nutrition, a Glanbia performance nutrition brand, are makers of the world's number one selling whey protein powder, Gold Standard 100% Whey.
Dr Crionna Tobin, PhD, head of science and education at Glanbia, said the partnership with Munster would have huge benefits.
"Good nutrition has a real impact on performance and recovery, whether you're playing at an elite level or just for exercise and enjoyment.
"We will focus on a food-first approach and explain where protein supplementation can complement good nutrition to support performance and recovery," she said.
