Munster star Sweetnam 'requires specialist opinion' after knee injury Newsdesk Newsdesk

Munster are set to be without wing Darren Sweetnam for the New Year's Eve trip to face Connacht after the 23-year-old picked up a knee injury during Monday's win over Leinster.

The in-form attacker was forced off at half time after shipping a big hit from Leinster fullback Zane Kirchner, with the province today confirming that the ex-Cork hurler injured his knee.

Sweetnam will see a specialist as Munster decide the best course of action to take with the injury.

Andrew Conway, who replaced Sweetnam, will also see a specialist after injuring his elbow against his old team.

Munster now lead the Pro12 by three points after their St Stephen's Day bonus point win over Leinster, but Rassie Erasmus is set to rest his frontline internationals for the derby with Connacht this weekend.
