MUNSTER primed for edinburgh pool taster

Munster will get an immediate taste of one of their Heineken Cup group opponents when they entertain Edinburgh tomorrow in the first of at least four meetings with the Scots this season.

Munster will open their Heineken Cup campaign away to Edinburgh on October 12 and will also conclude their pool campaign against Alan Solomons' side.

Edinburgh wound up their pre-season campaign with a 15-5 win over Newcastle Falcons at Hawick at the weekend.

Gloucester wrapped up their pre-season games by sending out two teams last Friday at Kingsholm, defeating Plymouth Albion 22-13 in the first game and then beating Scarlets 31-17.

Gloucester open their Premiership campaign at home to Sale Sharks tomorrow.

Perpignan have been the busiest of Munster's opponents and by Sunday will have played five league games.

They fell to a second successive defeat when they lost 31-20 away to Bayonne on Saturday.

But they bounced back to defeat an under-strength Grenoble on Wednesday 36-13, with former Munster centre Lifeimi Mafi impressing and getting the first of their five tries.

On Sunday they travel to play Jonathan Sexton and Ronan O'Gara's Racing Metro92 in Paris.
