Munster will once again have a fight on their hands to keep hold of Simon Zebo who is attracting significant interest in France.

Pau are attempting to lure the winger away from Thomond Park when his contract expires at the end of the season, the Irish Independent understands.

The big-spending club already have a significant Munster connection. Coach Simon Mannix is a former assistant coach to Rob Penney, while Paddy Butler, Sean Dougall and Dave Foley are part of the playing squad.

Munster will be doing their utmost to retain fan favourite Zebo who has been a regular in Joe Schmidt's Ireland team in the last two seasons.

Whether that is enough to put him in line for a national contract with the IRFU remains to be seen, but having lost Donnacha Ryan to Racing 92 last season, the province will be on high alert.

A French speaker, Zebo (27) has spoken openly of his desire to play in the Top 14 at some stage of his career and turned down offers from Pau and Stade Francais to remain with his home province in 2016.
