Munster's hopes of retaining their British and Irish Cup title have been handed a major boost with last year's head coach Peter Malone signed up for the same role this season.
Munster A's one-point win over Jersey Reds at Irish Independent Park last April was the second time the province had won the competition in their history, and after such a successful season Malone has decided to go with the same management team that helped him to the memorable victory last season.
Once again Malone's Greencore Munster Academy coaching colleagues, Colm McMahon and Greig Oliver, will take charge of the forwards and backs respectively, while Alan Miller will continue as team manager.
Prior to their opening B&I Cup fixture away to Ospreys Select at St Helens, Swansea on Saturday, October 14, Munster A will take on inter-pro rivals Leinster in a friendly at Thomond Park on Wednesday, October 4 (5.30pm) as both teams warm up for the cross-channel competition.
Munster A's first home game of the competition takes place on Friday, October 20 when one of the province's former coaches, Ian Costello, brings his Nottingham side to Irish Independent Park.
Bedford Blues are the next opponent to visit the Cork venue on December 8, while their competitive 2017 calendar will be wrapped up in Bedford on Saturday, December 16.
Munster A will travel to Nottingham on January 12 and then host Ospreys Select the following weekend, where a spot in the knock-out stages will be the target once again.
It was also confirmed this week that Munster A will return to Thomond Park in December for the annual Munster A/Development v Ireland U20s clash on Friday, December 29th at 1pm.
