Munster Rugby recently held a series of girls rugby blitz days for primary and secondary school pupils throughout Limerick.

Garryowen FC hosted a very successful event for pupils attending The Model, Educate Together and Gealscoil an Raithin primary schools.

Secondary school girls attending Castletroy College, St Nessans and Lauril Hill also took part in a blitz day hosted by Castletroy College in Dooradoyle.

Thomond RFC hosted girls representing Parteen, Corpus Christi and Thomond national schools, who also enjoyed a day of fun rugby.

All schools that took part received coaching sessions as well as a 'play rugby' pack which included balls, bibs and cones. The teachers in each school were also invited to participate in an upskilling session to help them to continue the activities during PE time.

The blitz days are a Munster Rugby initiative designed to promote girls' rugby throughout the province and it is hoped participants will develop an interest and join their local club.
