Great news for club game as 'Wegians go up
I've been involved with both Corinthians and Galwegians over the years and it was disappointing to see the former get relegated from Division 1B of the Ulster Bank League.
But what a boost it was to see Galwegians come from behind to get their second promotion in two years at a packed Crowley Park - at the same time as Connacht were playing Ulster up the road.
And someone said that Ulster Bank Rugby was dead? It was a great game by all accounts, between two great teams, but thankfully 'Wegians held their nerve at the end.
It was such a contrasting season for the two Galway sides. Everything seemed to go right for Galwegians but in fairness they made their own luck and they won't be a pushover in Division 1A next season.
But for Corinthians I suppose something had to give this year - they had a fairly star-studded team and eventually the Connacht guys were going to be called back for duty.
You see Eoghan Masterson doing well for Pat Lam's men recently - he has been a lynchpin for Corinthians since he came west and they couldn't afford to be losing players like that.
