The Munster Rugby U-15 and U-18 Secondary School Blitz kicked off this week at CIT with over 100 girls from the province taking part.

The students competed in 10-a-side rugby with each team playing a minimum of three games on the day.

There were a number of returning schools to the competition such as Pobal Scoil Beanntraí and Coláiste íde, Dingle who were joined by newcomers Ard Scoil Na Mara and John The Baptist Hospital on the day.

Speaking at the Blitz, Women's Community Rugby Officer Amanda Greensmith said: "It's great to see new schools coming on board which is showing continuous growth in the women's game.

"Hopefully today's blitz will encourage the girls to go down to their local club and continue to participate in rugby."
