Girls Rugby has recently got under way at Newport RFC in Co Tipperary.

Over the last four weeks the girls section has continually grown with approximately 30 players ranging between the U-15 and U-17 age grade training every Sunday morning.

The girls are all new to the sport; however, with many of them coming from camogie, football and basketball backgrounds their skill levels are adapting to rugby very quickly.

Head coach Michael Coughlan has been very impressed with the talent shown by the players at training and is confident girls' rugby has an exciting future at Newport RFC.

Girls training at Newport rugby club is every Sunday from 10am to 11am. For more information please contact Michael Coughlan on 086-8233360. Should you require any details on women's rugby within the province, please email Women's Community Rugby Officer amandagreensmith@munsterrugby.ie
