The Garryowen Lions disability rugby team recently held their showcase tag rugby blitz during the Shane Geoghegan Memorial Tournament in Dooradoyle, Limerick.

Joining the Lions on the field of play were fellow Munster side Mallow Barbarians as well as travelling sides Seapoint and De La Salle Palmerston with all funds raised on the day going towards the disability rugby section of Garryowen.

Now in their fourth year, the Garryowen Lions were one of the first disability rugby teams in Ireland and are closely aligned to the Daughters of Charity in Limerick. This partnership sees upwards of 40 participants train on Monday mornings and training is delivered by a mixture of qualified Garryowen and Daughters of Charity coaches.

Going from strength to strength, next June will see disability tag teams from around Europe descend upon Garryowen when the Lions host the Wooden Spoon International Festival.
