Munster will be without Jaco Taute for up to six months.

The burly South African will go under the knife today after a specialist confirmed that he had suffered knee ligament damage in the victory over the Cardiff Blues last weekend.

Munster confirmed the news in a statement this afternoon.

It read: "Jaco Taute will undergo surgery today after the specialist confirmed the South African centre suffered knee ligament damage against Cardiff Blues on Saturday.

"The 26-year-old is expected to follow a rehabilitation programme for approximately 6 months."
