The favourites have been kept apart in the semi-finals of the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup, but Young Munster and Cork Con will have their eyes on a place in the final as they face their respective opponents this weekend.

Young Munster are in action this evening when they welcome Cashel to Tom Clifford Park (8pm). The Cookies beat Shannon 23-17 at Thomond Park last Friday. Luke Fitzgerald and Jordan Stewart scored the tries.

Cashel booked their place in the final four thanks to a 10-7 win over UL Bohemians at UL. Keith Melbourne touched down for the decisive try.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, defending champions Cork Con are in action against Highfield and that Leeside derby takes place at Temple Hill tomorrow at 2.30pm.

The holders beat Garryowen 9-7 at Temple Hill last Saturday, with Aidan Moynihan the hero - scoring all three penalties.

Highfield's brilliant year continued as they beat UCC 30-29 after extra-time at the Mardyke. Paul Stack's try was the crucial score.

Next week the focus turns to AIL action as reigning champions Cork Con begin the defence of their Energia All-Ireland League Division 1A title.
