A lot of work to do after defeat by Castletroy
I'm helping to coach my alma mater Rockwell this season, but we suffered a bit of a setback this week when we were defeated by Castletroy College.
We have been in the last five finals and that may have created an expectation that we would win, but I think around a dozen of our lads were starting their first Senior Cup match, while Castletroy had a good few of their Junior Cup-winning team.
Our lads were very disappointed with the 20-13 loss, but we still have a chance to bounce back.
We now go into the losers' section, which, it must be said, will make it harder for us.
But we will take confidence from the fact that Crescent Comprehensive, who beat us in the final last year, lost their first-round match to us and then came through the long way to win it.
However, we know we have a lot of work to do.
Castletroy deserved their win, but we will now just have to knuckle down and we will be a lot better for the experience of having played the game.
The standard is very high in this year's competition, which is a credit to all the coaches in both clubs and schools.
