Maggs a coach to watch out for

WITH all the talk about promoting Irish coaches, it is worth keeping an eye on the progress made by former Ireland centre Kevin Maggs with Moseley in the English Championship.

Having been promoted to head coach at the start of the season, the 70-times capped 37-year-old has no star names to work with but has overseen a gradual improvement at the Birmingham club and steered them away from relegation worries.

Maggs has earned kudos for moving Moseley away from their traditional forward game and for speaking out against the play-off system which sees the top eight clubs battle for promotion while the bottom four scrap to avoid the drop -- definitely one to watch.
