Carlow Coyotes women's side opened the All-Ireland League season with a 36-0 victory against Clondalkin at home.
With eight new girls on board, Carlow dominated from the start with their strong maul. This resulted in three tries in each half, with Jenny Ardill landing three conversions. Carlow led 17-0 at half-time.
Full-back Maureen Young had a field day, running in three tries. Scrum-half Meg Parkinson added two more as she nipped in after good work by her forwards.
The remaining try was scored by Ardill who defied her years with a storming game.
The only negative to the game was two serious injuries, including a leg break, suffered by Carlow players. This weekend the Coyotes play New Ross.
The Junior 1 and Junior 2 men's teams play the first round of the Leinster League campaign on Sunday at Portarlington.
