Westmanstown RFC is one of the newest youth clubs in Leinster and its girls' section is one of its fastest-growing areas.

The U-18 girls had a big season in 2014-15 with a Leinster title and a player capped for Ireland.

The 2015-16 season meant promotion to Division One for both the U-15 and U-18 sides, which is a big step up, and while the it is proving challenging the girls are very much holding their own.

They faced Tullow at home last Saturday.

It was an exciting game too for reasons off the pitch as the Westmanstown Girls were unveiling their new jerseys kindly sponsored by Day Today Ongar and 3D Project Plus Management.

The new jerseys were designed by the girls themselves and boasted an added addition of the logo of a charity close to one of the players hearts, 'Nurture Africa'.

Unfortunately two experienced Tullow sides proved far too strong for the Westmanstown girls who fought valiantly and learned a lot from the game.

Westmanstown Girls train every Thursday at 6.30pm and are always looking for new players, as are all age groups in the club both boys and girls, so why not give it a try! Go to or call 086 2323344
