Take 20: 'Beating New Zealand in Chicago was a stand-out moment for me'

1. What boots do you wear? Gilbert.

2. What's your pre-training routine?

A warm-up. I'm getting old so it takes a few minutes.

3. You're in charge of the after-match tunes, what goes on first?

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers - 'Californication'.

4. Imagine a world that you're not a rugby player - what's your job?

Wall Street banker.

5. Stranded on a desert island, what three things do you take?

6. Which team-mate would you want with you on the island and why?

Cian Healy. He'd build something to get us off it.

7. What was your favourite book as a child?

Fireman Sam - great read!

8. What's your first sporting memory as a player or spectator and what do you remember from it?

I went to my first rugby international when I was 10 in Lansdowne Road against England. We got hammered by them and that's all I remember!

9. You have one moment from your career to do over. What is it?

The last three minutes against New Zealand in the Aviva in 2013.

10. What rugby skill would you most like to possess?

I wouldn't mind being 6' 2".

11. Favourite boxset/TV series?

America's Game - NFL.

12. What current player in your position do you most admire?

Malcolm Marx - a pretty decent all-rounder.

13. Who has been the biggest influence on your rugby career and why?

My family and wife Claire... My biggest fans even when I don't play well.

14 What was your first car?

Mitsubishi Colt.

15. What sporting event makes your bucket list and why?

The Super Bowl - it's on everyone's list, surely?

16. One minute to go in the Champions Cup final, you're three points down and you have a penalty in front of the posts… what do you do?

Kick it quickly, score, and go again.

17. What was the last concert you went to?

Mumford & Sons in the Three Arena.

18. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I played minor football for Limerick.

19. What's your own best memory playing rugby?

Two stand-out moments. Beating New Zealand in Chicago and winning the Champions Cup last season.

20. Who'll win the Gallagher Premiership in England and the Top 14 in France?

Saracens and Toulouse.
