The girls of ST Mary's in Edenderry made history last week when they held their first ever full contact rugby training session.

Under the coaching of Edenderry RFC's Leinster club community rugby officer Patsy Gorman, the girls took part after school in the first session for the school's girls' rugby team.

There was a good turn out of girls with some great rugby skills on display.

The future for girls rugby in our community looks very bright judging by the energy and skill set of these players.

This team will have their first fixture in the coming weeks and everyone in Leinster Rugby wishes them all the very best with the game and indeed the future of rugby in the school.

Onwards and upwards!
