A 28,000 seater stadium, sunshine and 20 degree average October temperatures are a far cry from his native Togher rugby pitch in Portlaoise but this is where and first XV player Eoin Keenan finds himself playing rugby these days.

No he hasn't signed a professional contract but is playing College Rugby for Louisiana State University Alexandria.

"All the games take place in huge stadiums, they're bigger than the RDS." Keenan said after his first game of the season.

Tough news for guys picking themselves up from the muck in Portlaoise and worse for the spectators sheltering from the wind.

"It's a tighter game but there's definitely a big emphasis on attack.

"Defensively we're sound and we've got some great attacking players so we're in good shape" he explained after recording their first win of the season away to last year's Conference Champions Louisiana Tech.

"People are talking about us being contenders after that result," said Keenan, who himself scored a hat-trick of tries himself, not bad for a hooker.

Well done to Eoin and continued success from all in Portlaoise RFC.
