Mary's going to the dogs

Tonight, St Mary's College RFC will be staging a race night at the dogs in Harold's Cross Greyhound Stadium.

During the night a 4 x 425m Challenge Relay race will taking place against our great rivals Terenure RFC and All-Ireland club champions Ballyboden St Endas GAA club.

This is being eagerly anticipated by Frank Kennedy, the relay team manager, who has named a youthful and exciting team.

Kennedy said: "Selection was a very difficult process and I know a number of players (and some older members) are very disappointed not to have made the final squad.

"Having to decide between my brother and my nephew was a traumatic experience.

"However, we feel we have picked a very competitive team. Being such a young side they will need as many people there supporting them on the night to cheer them on so please get there."

St Mary's Relay Squad - Terry Kennedy (1st XV), Steve Toal-Lennon (1st XV), Conor Toolan (J1s), David O'Halloran (J1s), Ciaran Deegan (J2s) and David Sloan (U-20s).

Terenure have also named a strong squad: Robert Duke (club captain), Brian Duke, Alex Dunlop, and Paddy Thornton.

This promises to be a great and memorial night out at the dogs. A nice way to close out the season.

Tickets for the night are still on sale. For more details, contact Marie Hammond in the club office on 01-4900440.
