As the new season gets into full flow and the World Cup hype hits full throttle, Scoil Phadraig and Rathcoffey NS threw themselves into the thick of it in a blitz at Clane RFC.

With over 120 pupils involved, everyone there witnessed great skills.

All teams - six each from Scoil Phadraig and Rathcoffey - were not only looking forward to playing the other school but also against the other classes in their year for no the school bragging rights.

Clane CCRO Michael Russell said: "We've been working with the schools for the past six weeks and it's great to see how much they have improved.

"It was a great day weather-wise for the rugby and it was wonderful to see them all enjoying themselves.

"Hopefully the kids will follow on their rugby introduction and we will see them playing in Clane RFC for many years to come and maybe even in the blue of Leinster.

"Many thanks to everyone who helped on the day including refs and especially the teachers for ensuring the blitz ran smoothly."
