Ireland star Jenny Murphy has been included in Leinster's 30-strong squad for the women's interprovincial championship.

But coach Ben Armstrong said the centre is unlikely to be involved in the opening round against Connacht this Saturday as she takes the final steps in recovering from a knee injury.

That game is part of a triple-header at Donnybrook's Energia Park, with the senior men playing Coventry at 3pm, the women playing at 5.30pm and the men's U-19 side taking on Ulster at 7.45pm.

Armstrong says sharing top billing with the men for the first time is a positive step. "When they first brought it to us we immediately said yes, it's amazing to have it," he said.

"I was here for the England and French games and, at capacity, the atmosphere that this place brings is unreal. To think that we'll have a bit of that, the girls are really looking forward to it."

Armstrong has named 10 new faces in his squad for their title defence, but he has plenty of senior stars to call on including international back Sene Naoupu who is set to play at out-half for the province.

"I think she's looking forward to giving it a go if she gets the chance, certainly she's a player who can play anywhere," Armstrong said.
