'I'd love to be a good goal-kicker, I could have been like John Eales'

1. What boots do you wear?

Adidas Kakari Force.

2. What's your pre-training routine?

As long as I have my legs taped for lineouts and my boots on I'm good.

3. You're in charge of the after-match tunes, what goes on first?

I'd have to play to the crowd so not System of a Down, probably Kings of Leon or Queen.

4. Imagine a world that you're not a rugby player - what's your job?

Window washer.

5. Stranded on a desert island, what three things do you take?

Lighter, sun screen and a volleyball called Wilson.

6. Which team-mate would you want with you on the island and why?

Two of them. Rhys Ruddock and Jack McGrath. Myself and Rudds can take care of the food and Jack can build stuff.

7. What was your favourite book as a child?

I was quite fond of the Goosebumps books.

8. What's your first sporting memory as a player or spectator and what do you remember from it?

I remember going to Croke Park to watch Meath beat Dublin in the Leinster final in 1996. I didn't get to the All-Ireland final against Mayo but I remember watching it. .

9. You have one moment from your career to do over. What is it?

I have too many lineout calls that haven't worked to pick just one!

10. What rugby skill would you most like to possess?

Goal-kicking. I could have been like John Eales.

11. Favourite boxset/TV series?

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'.

12. What current player in your position do you most admire?

Brodie Retallick is the standard-bearer at the minute.

13. Who has been the biggest influence on your rugby career and why?

Jono Gibbes. He was our forwards coach for so long and had a massive influence on me and my career.

14 What was your first car?

A 1996 Nissan Primera.

15. What sporting event makes your bucket list and why?

The NBA Finals. The most skilful athletes in the world in my book.

16. One minute to go in the Champions Cup final, you're three points down and you have a penalty in front of the posts… what do you do?

Take the three.

17. What was the last concert you went to?

Bruce Springsteen up in Belfast.

18. Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I met Meghan Markle before she became royalty.

19. What's your own best memory playing rugby?

My first away trip with Castleknock College when I was in fifth year.

20. Who'll win the Gallagher Premiership in England and the Top 14 in France?

Exeter and Racing 92.
