Is your club making the most of the opportunities provided by social media?

Well we’ve put together a league table to see which clubs have the most popular Facebook pages and Twitter feeds and Clontarf RFC have managed to top yet another league.

With 2,103 Facebook likes and 3,423 Twitter followers, the AIL champions lead the way with Ashbourne, Terenure, Lansdowne and NUIM Barnhall hot on their heels.

So why should your club develop their social media presence?

Not only does social media give you a direct link to your members and supporters with important club news and match results, it can also provide you with opportunities to promote fundraisers, recruit players and create a real buzz around club social events and fixtures.

Every club values their sponsors but do we give them enough exposure?

By engaging with our followers on social media we can promote sponsors and give them some real added value by highlighting them and drawing attention to special offers and promotions for club members.

This is something that can attract new sponsors who would see the benefits of being involved with your club.

How can you increase your reach on social media?

Its simple! All you need to do is make your pages interesting and engaging and ask your existing followers to share your page and retweet your updates.

Give people a reason to want to view your content and share it.

All a bit daunting? Well we can help. Leinster Rugby are working closely with clubs to help public relations officers to make the most of all media available to them.

Through our domestic marketing executive Elma Beirne, we run PR workshops and Elma is always happy to chat to you and help your club with their strategy.
