The Bank of Ireland Towns Cup swings back into action this weekend as 22 teams kick off their campaigns.

With Edenderry and Clondalkin taking place under lights on tomorrow night, the other 10 ties will kick off at 2.30 on Sunday with reigning champions Wicklow facing a stiff test of their credentials as they travel to Kilkenny in one of the ties of the round. Wicklow clinched the Leinster League Division 1B title last weekend, while the Kilkenny men are struggling for form in Division 1B.

Elsewhere, there will be a Laois derby when Portarlington entertain Portlaoise for what has the makings of a helter-skelter cup tie, while 1A mid-table side Gorey travel to 1B strugglers Mullingar.

In the Midlands, 2A leaders Longford take on Tullamore seconds while the biggest outsiders of the lot are the Midland Warriors as the Leinster League Division 3 leaders welcome North Kildare, a team three divisions ahead of them, to Moate.

Towns Cup first-round draw: Edenderry v Clondalkin; Portarlington v Portlaoise; Boyne seconds v Arklow; Mullingar v Gorey; Tullow v Newbridge; Co Carlow v Dundalk; Kilkenny v Wicklow; New Ross v Athy; Longford v Tullamore seconds; Skerries seconds v Roscrea; Midland Warriors v North Kildare; Wexford Wanderers v Naas seconds. Byes: Enniscorthy, Ashbourne, Cill Dara and Navan Seconds.
