Last Tuesday, in ideal weather conditions, two schools, Annacurragh, Aughrim, and Gaelscoil an Inbhir Mhór arrived in Arklow RFC to take part in a fifth and sixth class school tag blitz.

In total, 190 boys and girls took part and it came at the conclusion of a six-week Leinster Branch Programme by CCRO Barney Hynes who also organised the event in Arklow RFC.

The emphasis on the day was to encourage maximum participation so that all pupils could play in a relaxed environment and develop their understanding, enjoyment, and ability with in-game situations.

No scores were recorded and positive coaching was encouraged. Overall, the quality of this blitz was very good with all games being very competitive and played with a high level of skill and enthusiasm.

It was very encouraging to see the huge effort put in by all teams.

A huge thank you to Arklow RFC for the use of their wonderful facilities, the coaches of Arklow and the TY students of St Mary's girls secondary school for their help on the day also.
