Leinster Kris Kindle: "What do you get the man who has everything... and gets it for free, too?"

WHAT do you get the man who has everything? That's the dilemma facing Leinster stars this Christmas as they play Kris Kindle.

Rob Kearney, Dave Kearney, Fergus McFadden, Ian Madigan and Leo Cullen discussed all things Christmas in an interview with our own Bairbre Power.

They talked about traditions, midnight mass and hopefully getting Christmas Day off; but the discussion soon turned to the Leinster team's upcoming Kris Kindle deadline.

"The names get thrown in a hat and players are picked out that you have to buy for. It's a 'Secret Santa'... that has to be done before next week or there's a big fine in place. The limit is pretty low, it's more the craic of it and to get into the Christmas spirit."

Fergus McFadden remained tight-lipped on who had picked, giving only one hint. "He has red hair. That's it!"

Ian Madigan revealed that he had Richard Strauss this year and he was finding him harder to buy for than last year's pick, Brian O' Driscoll. "That was easy - I just bought him a carrier for Sadie!"

Leo Cullen also reminisced about 'Kris Krindle' past, chuckling over his gift for New Zealander Michael Bent. "Even though he was qualified to play for Ireland, I don't think he knew that much about Ireland - so I bought him a Reeling In The Years boxset."

The player who picked Dave Kearney may have their work cut out for them as he named the PlayStation and Xbox as his favourite childhood gifts.

The fullback did have a laugh at whoever picked his brother Rob. "What do you get the man who has everything... and gets it for free too?"

On the subject of the Kearney Christmas, Rob let slip that he had picked his little sister in the family 'Kris Kindle', laughing "I hope she's not watching now".

The five players are the new ambassadors of the Druid's Glen resort.
