Cus 6 Roscrea 0

In a game of fine margins, it was CUS that kept their hopes alive thanks to a penalty in each half from Rob Mackey at Newbridge College.

They had to fend off a desperate late bid from their gritty opponents, though, who were camped on their try-line right at the death in search of a dramatic, potentially match-winning score. Jay Culleton and Eamonn McMahon both went close, but brave and committed defending denied them.

St Gerard's 0 St Andrew's 0

It will take a replay to separate these two sides and both will be disappointed they did not take advantage of their scoring opportunities when they arose.

Both sides missed penalties before the half-time whistle.

Gerard's almost crossed the line late in the game after some brilliance from Mark Baker. St Andrew's responded well, but despite countless phases and possession, were unable to turn the pressure into points.

Pres' out-half Peter Sylvester was the hero as he scrambled over the try-line from close range with five minutes remaining the clock after a length-of-the-field move. A yellow card for Ciaran McHugh 13 minutes from time did not help the CBC cause.
