Kelleher brace scuppers Munster

Munster U-20 18 Leinster U-20 19

Two tries from the impressive Cian Kelleher set Leinster on their way to their second successive win in the inter-provincial series as they saw off the challenge of Munster at Thomond Park by the narrowest of margins.

A Gearoid Lyons penalty had Munster ahead on the quarter hour, but Leinster immediately hit back. Ross Byrne declined the three points on offer and instead opted for the corner. The ball was spun wide from the resulting line-out and Kelleher was on hand to power his way over the line. Byrne added the extras.

A second Lyons penalty kept Munster in touch, but it was Leinster who were dominating proceedings. Kelleher was lively throughout and twice came close to adding to his opening try just before the break.

Kelleher didn't have to wait long for his second try, however, as he darted over in the corner five minutes after the restart. Byrne narrowly missed the conversion.

Leinster began to find holes in the Munster defence and Gary Ringrose touched down under the posts before Byrne again converted.

Munster refused to give in and two tries in the final 10 minutes gave them a chance of a turnaround. Jack O'Donoghue burrowed his way over and Lyons converted. Lee Nicholas added his side's second try, but Lyons' conversion kick came off the post.

Lyons was handed a chance to claim the win for his side in the final minute, but his penalty from almost the half-way line dropped short as Leinster ran out winners.
