Ireland vs Samoa: Ref link review

"Aw mate, my whistle's in my tracksuit pants." Steve Walsh sends Wayne Barnes scurrying as he realises that his main piece of equipment was on its way to the changing rooms.

"Boys, we've got no ball." Having located his whistle in time for kick-off, the referee then realises another crucial tool has gone astray.

"I'm just finding that you're late arriving and their six has gotten there both times." Peter O'Mahony's effectiveness at the breakdown gets some kudos from Walsh as he speaks to Samoa captain Kahn Fotuali'i.

"On that series of mauls, there were three attempts to bring it down. Imagine what would have happened." After conceding the try, Walsh heaps bad news on Samoa as he informs them their efforts to stop the maul were illegal.

"Argh! Sorry mate, I didn't see it coming green ball." Looking for some empathy from Jamie Heaslip after blowing his whistle too early.

"Sorry buddy, I totally missed it." To Heaslip after Brian O'Driscoll's run was checked in midfield.

"I think they're bringing O'Connell on." Walsh reacts to the huge roar of approval for Ireland's new captain.

"1, 3 – ah, just bring them all on." The referee loses count as Joe Schmidt empties his bench.
